Till We’re Free (2015)

“Till We’re Free” tells the shocking confession of two brothers acquitted for the murder of a 14-year-old boy for whistling at a white woman in 1955. The two accused men, Roy Bryant and his half-brother J.W. Milliam, were acquitted of the kidnapping and murder of Emmett Till, but later confessed to a reporter – but they didn’t tell the whole truth. The death of Emmett Till sparked the civil rights movement and inspired Rosa Parks to refuse to give up her seat on the bus 100 days after his death.

* TILL WE’RE FREE was based on the FBI Report on Emmett Till and fact-checked for accuracy by Emmett Till expert and author Devery Anderson.  Turns out, we have one error.  Miliam is pronounced “My-um” not “Mil-e-um”.

** TILL WE’RE FREE was made with no budget with an all-volunteer cast and crew.
